Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag remained confident that £65 million signing Rasmus Hojlund will soon score in the Premier League as The Red Devils prepare to take on West Ham United at London Stadium on Saturday.
Hojlund, signed for €65 million from Atlanta, scored five times in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) but failed to find the back of the net in the Premier League (PL) and has just five goals in 21 outings across competitions this season.
However, Ten Hag was confident that the 20-year-old would soon score as the Dutchman praised his mentality saying he performs better under pressure.
"We are open, he is open. His mentality is great. I think he is a very good performer under stress and he deals with that," Ten Hag told reporters ahead of Saturday's trip to West Ham United.
"But it's not only about Rasmus Hojlund, it's about Marcus Rashford, it's also about (Alejandro) Garnacho, it's also about Antony, it's also about Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay.
"Don't forget our full backs, who have to play a big part in that. I'm sure we will improve and especially if our squad is full. If it is better balanced, we should create more chances."
Ten Hag’s men travel to London to play a crucial league game as a win against David Moyes’ troops could take them to sixth position should Newcastle United lose to Luton Town on the same day.
Not many things have gone Man United’s way this season. They were knocked out of the UCL this season after finishing bottom of the group and their chances of winning the Premier League this season also remain thin.
Not just all of that, they have had their fair share of injuries as key players like Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and new signing Mason Mount have all missed a considerable amount of matches.
It must be noted that Man United’s last win at the London Stadium came in September 2021 when goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard cruised the Red Devils to win. Ten Hag’s last meeting with the former United boss at London Stadium ended in a 1-0 defeat.
